Designed for flexibility, our Leather Dog Lead Extension is a simple yet versatile addition to your walking setup.

Handmade in New Zealand from premium full-grain leather, it features a solid brass trigger clip at one end and an O-ring at the other, allowing you to easily extend the length of your lead or connect multiple leads together.

Use it on its own to add extra length, or pair two extensions with our Leather Basic Dog Lead to create a Split Lead – the perfect solution for walking multiple dogs at once.

Optional Nameplate
Add a custom hand-stamped nameplate in solid brass or stainless steel, securely riveted to the lead. With your details clearly displayed, you’ll have peace of mind knowing your lead can always be identified if misplaced.

Materials & Craftsmanship

LEATHER
We use premium full-grain leather — the highest grade of real leather, known for its natural markings, strength, and durability.
Selected for its strength and beauty - as the leather ages it will soften and develop a unique, natural patina, whilst remaining extremely strong to withstand harsh and demanding conditions. It is vegetable-tanned and has been dyed all the way through with non-toxic water dyes.

HARDWARE
Premium hardware, cast from solid brass, selected for maximum strength to ensure our products remain rust-free for life. All hardware is kept securely in place with strong solid brass rivets.

CRAFTSMANSHIP
Our leather dog leads are custom made with quality craftsmanship and thoughtful design that prioritises your dog's comfort and safety. Our dog leads stand out for their premium Italian vegetable-tanned leather, known for its ability to soften and age beautifully over time, and sturdy solid brass hardware.

Each dog lead is meticulously handmade, and our nameplates are hand-stamped. Minor tooling marks or inconsistencies in the stamping enhance the unique charm and human element of your custom dog lead.

Customisation Options

WIDTH
3/4" is a good size for most dogs. 1/2" suits small breeds and 1" suits large breeds or if you like a thicker handle.

LENGTH
Available in three lengths - 40cm, 60cm or 100cm.

COLOUR
We stock our premium Italian veg-tan leather in 11 colours. The leather is 2.8-3mm thick.

HARDWARE
Your choice of either gold (solid brass), silver (nickel-plated solid brass) or matte black (PVD solid brass) hardware.

NAMEPLATE
If you would like a nameplate added, your dog's details will be hand-stamped and clearly seen on the solid brass or stainless steel nameplate. The standard placement of the nameplate is directly underneath the rivets that that attach the O ring. However, if you would like a different placement just let us know - we can attach it wherever you like.

Nameplate Dimensions:
Small (for 1/2" and 3/4" wide leads) - 50 x 9.5mm - up to 2 lines of information in 2.5mm text
Large (for 3/4"and 1" leads) - 70 x 16mm - up to 3 lines of information in 3mm text.

Is this suitable for your pet?

If your dog needs to be tied up or left unattended for a while, we recommend using a heavy-duty lead made for that purpose, and saving this custom lead for walks and training. While our leads are extremely sturdy, and will withstand forceful tugging, there are determined dogs out there for which any lead is no match!

Remember: the wider the leather, the stronger the lead.

Strap Replacement Service

How To Measure

Getting the size right means a better fit and a more comfortable collar for your dog or cat. Here's how to measure your pet’s neck so we can make their collar just right — plus tips for growing puppies.

How to Measure For A Dog Collar

We strongly suggest providing an accurate measurement when placing your order. If you follow the instructions below, this will allow us to make a collar for your dog that will fit him/her well.

1. Using a soft tape measure, record the circumference of the neck at the point where a collar would naturally lie.

2. Pull the tape so that it is snug but not tight. Record the measurement.

3. Enter this measurement in the personalisation text box when prompted. This measurement will be the middle hole of the collar, we will add at least another two holes either side.

Puppies - If your dog is a puppy, please let us know and we will make an allowance for growth when sizing the holes for the collar. Please feel free to give us a range (up to 12cm, i.e. 24-36cm) so that we can make sure there are enough holes to suit your dog's growth. We can be very flexible with the number of holes provided in the collar.

How to Measure For A Cat Collar

1. Using a soft tape measure, record the circumference of the neck at the point where a collar would naturally lie.

2. Pull the tape so that it is snug but not tight. Record the measurement.

3. Enter this measurement in the personalisation text box when prompted.
